Review: Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light

Josie Maran Light 4

I tried the original Josie Maran Argan Oil and loved it— but I have combination oily skin so I wanted to try this Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light instead to see how it compared to the original.

For those of you who don’t know, Argan Oil is an excellent multi-use product in that you can use it on your cuticles, hair, elbows, or as a face moisturizer. It’s really great because it’s got Vitamin E and other fatty acids in it so not only is it very hydrating, but it’s also proven to be good at smoothing skin texture and improving radiance. Are you sold yet?

Josie Maran Light

As I mentioned, I was very much in love with the original Josie Maran Argan Oil, but this one has taken the top spot because it really does the same thing, but in a lighter formula. I use this day and night, it absorbs really quickly and doesn’t leave any greasy residue. It dries to a semi-matte finish and isn’t at all heavy, so it doesn’t disturb my makeup either.

Ok, I know what you’re thinking…I have combination oily skin and I’m putting more oil on it?! Scary thought I know, but using an oil has actually reduced the amount of oil my skin produces. Basically when we have oily skin, we tend to use products to help “control” the oil, and in doing that these products can also strip your skin. Our skin needs a certain amount of oil, so when it’s been stripped we produce more oil to compensate– can you see the vicious cycle here? So by adding the facial oil, it balances your skin and therefore your skin doesn’t need to keep overproducing oil.

I use this after a serum and before my moisturizer. My skin is prone to breakouts and I have zero issues with this product or the original. Obviously I highly recommend checking it out and at only $14, why wouldn’t you?

P.s. Can you tell I really love this product? 😛

Have you tried argan oil before?

  1. Not only haven’t I tried it, I have never even heard of it! I have to say, it sounds perfect, I have very dry hands for some reason and especially around my nails… I might just give this a try!!

  2. Thank you for the review!! I’ve tried the original but just recently heard about the light formula. Where do you get yours from?
Also, good way of explaining the oil production vs. stripping thing, that can be hard for me to explain to others.

    • I got mine from Sephora, they’re usually good about stalking most (if not all) of the Josie Maran line. Thanks, I was worried it would be a little hard to follow- it is definitely a difficult thing to explain 🙂 x

  3. Can’t get this over in Ireland 😦 I’m loving the L’oreal Paris hair oils at the moment – fourteen quid and they do wonders for parched hair x
