As soon as I saw the NARS Limited Edition Guy Bourdin One Night Stand Palette, $65— I knew it had to be mine.
First, who is Guy Bourdin? He was the protege of Man Ray and a French Fashion Photographer who worked for Vogue. He was one of the first photographers to create a complex narrative (sensual, shocking, exotic, etc.) to go along with fashion, instead of simply showcasing a fashion item. He died in 1991, but his work is what first inspired Francois Nars to become a makeup artist. The collection reflects that and the images on the packaging feature Guy Bourdin’s original works.
OK, now on to this gorgeous palette:
This palette contains four blushes: Orgasm, Deep Throat, Mistinguette and Goulue.
To make it complete, they added in the hugely popular Laguna bronzer and Devotee as the highlighter.
I have yet to purchase any NARS blushes, though I’ve been adding and removing Deep Throat to and from my Sephora cart for months now. The value of this palette is just incredible! Each NARS blush on it’s own is .16 oz and cost $29. Each powder in this palette is .14 oz and you get six of them for a little over the price of two!! That coupled with the fact that I didn’t own any NARS blushes already, made purchasing this impossible to resist. Add in the fact that there was a friends and family sale and I got 20% off, resulting in it costing $52 before tax, well it was just too good to pass up.
It goes without saying, the pigmentation and quality of these are incredible. Deep Throat, Goulue and Laguna are my early favorites, but the entire palette is all you need to keep your cheeks happy for a long long time.
If you own the insanely popular Laguna, Deep Throat & Orgasm already– then this probably isn’t worth it for you unless you travel a lot and want to have them all in one incredibly beautiful package. Or if you collect NARS blushes, you might want to get your hands on this palette because of Goulue, Mistinguette and Devotee being completely new.
If this sounds like something you might want to pick up, I advise doing it fast because it’s Limited Edition and part of their Holiday 2013 collection, so it’s bound to sell out fast.
What do you think, will you be picking this up?
