Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush 3

As many of you know will know, I was pretty obsessed with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder from the second I tried it out. So as soon as I laid eyes on the words Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush, I knew there was no question about whether or not I would be purchasing one. It was hard to pick a shade without being able to swatch them in person, but I went with Dim Infusion and boy am I glad I did!

Even though I ordered this from the early Sephora release for VIB members, as with everything, it took an agonizingly long time to reach me here in the countryside of the Dominican Republic. With everyday that went by, my excitement only grew, and I can definitely report that this one was well worth the wait!

There are six shades in the new release, each containing one of the original Ambient Lighting Powders hand mixed with a pigment, so no two blush pans are alike. Since we have “photoluminescent technology” in the mix here, it means that the blush applies beautifully and blends easily onto the skin for an amazingly natural, but gorgeous finish.

Dim Infusion is described as a “subdued coral,” but I’d say it’s more of a peachy color with a subtle sheen finish that looks natural without emphasizing your pores. As with the originals, this blush it a bit powdery, but it doesn’t translate that way on your skin — it simply melts in and sticks around for a good 7 hours. It’s quite build-able, but this particular shade is rather light, so I’m not sure it would show up on darker skin-tones.

I’m really pleased with this lovely blush and am so happy it lived up to my expectations. I’m waiting to swatch the rest in person when I visit the States in a few weeks, but I’ve also got my eye on Mood Exposure. They are currently sold out at the Hourglass website, but they’re back in stock at Sephora and they cost $35 a pop– I’m sure you can find them in stores too.

What do you think? Will you be trying one of these?

  1. I can’t wait to buy these! I’m holding off though… because I’m trying to be good. Makeup gets so expensive so fast! But I can not wait until I get them. It looks gorgeous.

    • Thanks! I definitely agree about how very expensive makeup is, so I’m happy I love this enough to make it worth the price! Kudos to you for being good, I always try but have such a hard time 🙂 x

  2. Definitely have my eye on these (& the original HAL powders)! Was thinking of going with Dim Infusion too – even though my skin is slightly more Mediterranean looking (aka olive). Bit worried about whether or not I’ll end up getting the right powder to blush ratio (been reading a lot about that online) but still think I’ll give it a go… Glad you are enjoying your purchase (costs a bit too much not to, doesn’t it?)

    • Absolutely Christiana! There is nothing worse then when you spend quite a bit on a product and it ends up not meeting your expectations. I was fairly sure I would love these so I was willing to take the gamble…but I would definitely recommend checking it out in person to make sure it will be the best fit.
I wasn’t aware about the powder to blush ratio being an issue for some, but I guess that will always be a factor with anything hand mixed or with veining. I’m happy I didn’t have any issues with mine. There’s another reason to pick it up in person, so you can assure the pan your getting has the most ideal ratio 🙂 x

  3. Looks lovely on you! I’ve heard quite a bit about the original powders but for those as well as these, I’m just not able to shell out the money. Now I don’t know too much about these products, but with oily skin, I’m always very nervous about anything that gives a glow. I don’t need any help with that haha
