So at the end of every month you can find me quite giddily gathering up all my favorite beauty bits to prepare a monthly favorites post. Those are still one of my favorite posts to put together, so I thought why not do that with the other things I’ve been loving lately? I don’t know if you’ll find this as interesting as my beauty monthly favorites, but I still really enjoyed putting this post together. I won’t be doing this monthly, but I thought it would be nice to do it seasonally. It will be quite interesting to look back and see what I was loving, just like with my beauty favorites. Here they are, the things I’ve been loving lately:
The Cactus & the Candle
Sometime last year my friend sent me a package with a small Bath & Body Works London Calling candle in it, and I was hooked the second I opened the package. I went to their website, but it wasn’t part of their permanent collection and I couldn’t get any more. I didn’t dare burn it, I would just keep it nearby on my desk and sniff it once in a while. I know that might be a little weird, but it’s just the most lovely fresh combination of lemon & tea that I just didn’t want to be without it. Long story short, B&BW re-released it this past spring and I greedily stocked up. I’m sorry to say you can’t get it at the moment, but I’m hoping it will come out again next Spring and I would strongly suggest you go and give it a sniff!
This cactus was from a local plant nursery or “vivero” and I frickin love it! Just look at how awesome it is!!! Try as I might to have plants around the house, I just can’t keep them alive. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I just don’t have a green thumb I guess. That or I need to find hardier plants– enter this amazing cactus that seriously makes me so happy to look at AND I can’t kill it! At least I hope I can’t!
My favorite Owl.
Some of you might think I’m cheating here and sneaking in a beauty favorite– but it’s the owl holder I want to talk about. I really love owls and found that I had subconsciously been collecting them and now you can pretty much find at least one in every room of our house. I picked up this one from Michael’s Arts & Crafts last April and it was on sale for like $3! I just love it and think it’s perfect as my most-used makeup brush holder.
In case you’re interested in the other containers I have in the picture: the white one is from Ikea and the other one was $1 at Target.
If you haven’t heard of CEO of Nasty Gal Sophia Amoruso’s book #GIRLBOSS, then I’m here to tell you about how awesome it is. It’s a really great motivational and quick read about her particular journey in building her multimillion dollar company, and tips she has learned from the business. It not only has great career/business advice, but really all the information can be adapted to your personal life. I love that the way this was written left me feeling like Sophia Amouso was a friend giving me advice on how to kick ass. I want to be a #GIRLBOSS, do you? If so, I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
The other notebook pictured is a simple notebook I picked up that I carry around with me everywhere. It’s really great for jotting down ideas for this blog, things I need to remember, or lists of things I need to do. I write everything in here and it helps keep me on track and organized.
The Yummy Stuff.
I have always loved Green tea and Chai tea but would have never thought of putting them together. Then I found this Yogi Chai Green tea and it’s seriously amazing. Yogi tea do a lot of great teas– I highly recommend checking them out, especially the detox teas.
I’ve been really conscientious about what I’ve been eating lately and found that the Quest Bars are really really good protein bars. They have a ton of flavors, but beware because some are made with Sucralose (Splenda) and some are made with Stevia. My favorite is the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor, but Strawberry Cheesecake and Coconut Cashew are good ones too. Not only are they they best tasting protein bars I’ve ever tried, but they also have clean ingredients and are obviously packed with protein, fiber and other good stuff.
Now the Nature Valley Crunchy Roasted Almond Granola Bars aren’t as good for you as the Quest Bars, but they aren’t really in the same category for me. I look at these more as a treat and they are seriously delicious. If you like granola and you like almonds then try these! I swear, you can almost fool yourself into thinking you’re eating a cookie– that’s how tasty these are!
Last but not least is the True Lime Black Cherry Limeade Drink Mix. OK hear me out- these are again made with Stevia so they have almost 0 calories but it tastes so darn good! The flavor reminds me of a slushy I must have had when I was little and I just can’t get enough of it. I usually fill a tall glass of water and then pour in a quarter of the mix and that’s enough flavoring for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love water…but sometimes you need a little flavor and this is definitely my favorite way to do it. I would also recommend the Peach Lemonade and Lemon Tea flavored drink mixes from them.
So there you have it, everything I’ve been loving lately. Have you tried any of these before? What have you been loving?
Happy Friday everyone!!!
