Today’s post is all about disappointing products. I usually try to keep things pretty positive on my little blog, but felt it was necessary to be honest about what I haven’t been loving lately. Just in case you’re like me and like to know the good, bad, and ugly about a product before spending your hard earned pennies on it, here’s why these just didn’t do it for me.
1. Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes – I really wanted to like these, but there’s something in here that stings my face and makes it turn red. I don’t have the slightest idea what it is and I certainly wasn’t expecting that to happen considering these have 98% natural ingredients. They might work for you, but they certainly didn’t work out for me.
2. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bellissima – I tried and tried to make this one work, but I just couldn’t. I tried painting it on and keeping my mouth taut for a few minutes so it would dry and set, but it only just ended up staying sticky and settling into the lines on my lips. I tried applying it and then patting it in with my fingers– didn’t work either. Basically it doesn’t dry quick enough, so when you move your lips or pucker them together, it would pull off bits of it and end up turning into a patchy mess. Maybe there is a way to work with this, but I don’t have the time or patience. Boo.
3. They’re Real Push Up Liner – I knew I was taking on chance on this one, but since about half the people who tried it LOVED it, maybe I could too. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I found the formula heavy and on the dry side. It took ages to get the product to come out and then once it did, it was hard to get it as precise as I wanted and bits ended up in clumps all over. I think the tip on this is genius and if they can work on the formula so it’s not so dry, flaky, and heavy, this could be amazing. I’m glad I only went with the mini.
4. Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten and Bronze – OK, I know Stila products make up half of this post, so I feel like I need to say that I love Stila. I have the In The Light Palette, which is one of my favorites… and I have a few of the Convertable Colors, which are really great too. There was just something about these few products that were a real let down and inconsistent with how I usually think of the quality of the brand. So what was wrong with these? They were dry, impossible to apply evenly, and forget about blending– these just simply failed at what they’re supposed to do.
As with anything, we all have different skin types and preferences, so even though these products didn’t work for me, they may work for you.
Have you tried any of these? What did you think?
